I found I had to press the 'swap shared screen with video' to make zoom notice that the video exists, in case that's helpful to anyone. But I can see Emily now, and placeholders for others.

You're also welcome to put questions here in the chat, and we'll try to answer them as best we can!

Is there a full-page PDF of that infographic anywhere?
Jenny Levine, LITA Director
21:40
It will be added to the Core website later today

22:12
Also worth noting about dues: if you're one of the substantial percentage of LITA members who also belongs to ALCTS and/or LLAMA, your dues go down a lot with Core.
Frank Skornia
23:17
Andromeda is right- we're also getting a significant value increase with only a $10 increase if you're only a LITA member

@Jamen, the $70 dues level should make us at minimum revenue neutral, hopefully with some net revenue each year, so we could keep ourselves going even without a reserve fund
Andromeda Yelton
42:09
It's complicated. We pay a percentage of our revenue to them in overhead; they provide office space, IT, HR, and all sorts of other administrative functions.
Jenny Levine, LITA Director
42:20
we don't get any kind of subsidy from ALA. is that what you mean?

42:57
In my opinion, things like the Intellectual Freedom Committee and the Washington Office are also part of the support we get from ALA; it doesn't directly support LITA operations but it is important to me as a member.
Andromeda Yelton
44:08
That was in answer to a question on what kind of support LITA gets from ALA that I think may have gone only to the panelists, in case I have just confused all the non-panelists :)
Andromeda Yelton
46:31
In response to a question to panelists on how ALA leadership feels about Core -- I would characterize it as "open admiration"/
Andromeda Yelton
47:28
This kept coming up at Midwinter and I don't think I heard any ALA leaders say a negative thing about Core. I heard a lot of people expressing real appreciation that we had gotten so far ahead of the financial challenges and were providing a model for the rest of the organization about transformative leadership.
Thomas Dowling
47:31
It would be very helpful to have someone from LLAMA and ALCTS leadership to say they're enthusiastic to get a piece of the LITA coolness Topher just described. [As opposed to, "You will be assimilated," for example.]
Emily Morton-Owens
47:46
The feedback we have gotten from ALA/SCOE is very positive.
Topher Lawton
48:03
I would agree with Andromeda. SCOE is avidly watching us blaze this trail, and I think ALA is paying lots of attention
Emily Morton-Owens
49:55
And yes, that they would like us to be a model for other transformations that are needed across the association. I think this project has positive energy that is helping work through the apprehensions members have, and they want to learn from that.
Topher Lawton
50:23
Re: Thomas...I don't think it's necessary to sound so Borg-like, but I also have every confidence that our enthusiasm would help us be the partners (and assimilators...)
Topher Lawton
53:28
"There's not a script for that"--I think we're really good at figuring out what to do in those situations
Jenny Levine, LITA Director
53:28
can you hear better now?
Anne Moore
56:17
Anne from LLAMA: LLAMA is absolutely looking forward to learning from LITA and ALCTS. We firmly believe that Core will provide more opportunities for all of us. The Exchange and The Forum are just two examples of professional development we have not had in the past. We are also eager to join the ALCTS e-forums. A few years ago LLAMA reorganized into Communities of Practice that encourage the members to move their projects and activities forward. We also consider leadership to be throughout the profession rather than centralized.
Jenny Levine, LITA Director
56:38
LITA was also the first division to take its journal open access

to keep it going!
Topher Lawton
57:43
Agreed here--many feelings about this, and feeling them is a totally okay thing
Emily Morton-Owens
58:20
Was there some plan to get the ALCTS and LLAMA journals our a platform like ours? I remember discussing it but don’t recall the result.
Emily Morton-Owens
58:24
Ah, there you go.
Andromeda Yelton
58:58
FYI to attendees: if you send questions to "all panelists", only the speakers can see them; choose "all panelists and attendees" if you want everyone to see your question.
Emily Morton-Owens
59:30
agreed

01:00:41
I've been working with reps from LLAMA and ALCTS on planning the online Exchange for May and it's already been a great experience and we've seen a lot of synergy in the programming submissions
Hong Ma
01:01:48
@Frank, great to know. Thanks!
Thomas Dowling
01:02:59
A recurring semi-complaint about LITA is that members' career tracks tend to go from techie to manager, and there has been a lack of LITA support for those ex-techie managers. So the LLAMA tie-in has an obvious attraction.
Anne Moore
01:03:59
I agree with Frank, working with ALCTS and LITA folks, over the last two years has been fantastic. We are all librarians who love to collaborate and are extremely experienced and articulate. We all want the same things and are dedicated to providing what the members want.
