As an author who has not yet published, I would be thrilled if a agent would take me on and I do not have any leverage otherwise at this point. This discussion seems to be on the opposite issue. Do you suggest not getting an agent in the first place or arranging a more generous contract to start, or...? In other words, I am looking at this apriori. Is there any advice for generating contracts in the first place?
